Field Board Members Making Headlines
We are so proud of the important work our board members are doing in Chicago.

Cathy Cohen makes the list (and headlines) for Black feminists who are securing progressive victories in Chicago. A political scientist at the University of Chicago, Cathy launched the first nationally representative survey on the political attitudes of young Black people. Read more in the New York Times article to learn about how the survey findings led her to host a conference for emerging Black activists. 

In this review of Dr. Nicholas Pearce’s book The Purpose Path, writer Peter Economy discusses a unique concept Pearce calls “vocational courage.” According to Dr. Pearce, by asking ourselves five questions, we can align our life’s purpose with what we do and pursue authentic work. This spring, Field board members Gloria Castillo and Lisa Lee, along with Field President Angelique Power, joined Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s transition team. The transition team encompassed ten committees, focusing on topics ranging from the arts and culture to business and neighborhood development to public safety.
