The Black Star\nProject will utilize the grant funding to support the purchase of state-of-the-art\ncomputers and educational software for students in its Kimberly Lightford\nSaturday University (KLSU). Here is the official news release from Camelot\nIllinois:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CHICAGO &#8211; Camelot Illinois\nannounces two non-profit organizations have received funding from the Camelot\nIllinois Grant Program to benefit local communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to continue\nsupporting impactful causes through the Camelot Illinois Grant Program. As a\ncompany that values corporate social responsibility, Camelot is proud to work\nwith The Black Star Project and Genesys Works Chicago to provide our\ncommunity&#8217;s youth with opportunities for academic and career advancement,&#8221;\nsays Keith Horton, General Manager and General Counsel of Camelot Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genesys Works Chicago has received\n$15,000 in grant funding to put towards the cost of enrolling 200 Chicago\nPublic School students into the program&#8217;s 11th class of young professionals.\nGenesys Works provides high school students in underserved communities with\npathways to successful careers. The organization&#8217;s 10-week programs provide\ntechnical and professional skills training, paid corporate internship\nexperience, college and career coaching, and ongoing alumni support to move\nstudents out of poverty and into professional careers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our work is driven by a\nvision of a future when all youth are equipped with the knowledge and skills\nnecessary to achieve success in high school, college, and beyond, ensuring a\nlifetime of economic self-sufficiency,&#8221; says Kim Day, Executive Director\nof Genesys Works. &#8220;Genesys Works&#8217; program serves as the bridge between\nclassroom knowledge and an in-demand career. By supporting the technical and\nprofessional skills training of our Young Professionals, Camelot Illinois is\nhelping us provide students a scaffolding upon which a financially sustainable\nfuture can be built.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Black Star Project, an\norganization that improves the academic performance of Illinois students in\nless-advantaged communities, has received $10,300 in grant funding from the\nCamelot Illinois Grant Program. The grant will be used to support the purchase\nof state-of-the-art computers and education software.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As we navigate the COVID-19\npandemic, support from Camelot Illinois helps to ensure our critical work\ncontinues throughout this period and beyond,&#8221; states Gloria Smith,\nExecutive Director of The Black Star Project. &#8220;We understand that our\nstudents are facing unique challenges and this grant will address important\ntechnology and online learning needs. We greatly appreciate Camelot&#8217;s support\nand look forward to this wonderful partnership.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Camelot Illinois Grant Program\npromotes community and neighborhood development by funding programs that foster\neducational opportunities and support technological initiatives. Grants are\nawarded to eligible non-profit organizations four times per year.
